Working with oil paints and watercolours, her artwork reflects the surroundings in which she lives. She taks inspiration from the diverse local wildlife and enjoys creating representational depictions of the fox, hare, mice & bird life. Living in an agricultural community she also paints the many different breeds of sheep and cattle found in the local area, and enjoys capturing their unique characters, using fine detail, manipulating the paint to achieve each ‘portrait’. Dog breeds also feature frequently in her work and Susan has enjoyed elevating ‘man’s best friend’ to fine art status. Still life & portraiture also form part of her extensive portfolio of art, and many of these are held in private collections.
Susan says: “Whether I’m painting a large prize bull or a tiny field mouse I always endeavour to capture the essence of the subject in fine detail utilising my own unique style.”
