Tim Cockburn

Tim Cockburn is an artist and printmaker working in the historic harbour town of Pittenweem. Born in Sheffield in 1955, he studied at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1978. After living and working in Tuscany for a year he then travelled to India and Sri Lanka.

Between 1986 and 1989 Tim editioned work for artists at the Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop and his duties included the running of regular courses in Printmaking. From 1989- 1991 Tim Cockburn worked as a part-time Lecturer at Telford College of Education.

Tim became Chairman of the Council of the Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop in 1990 and served as Chairman until 1994.

He has exhibited widely in galleries throughout Scotland and his work is represented in many corporate and public collections including HM the Queen. Edinburgh University, Fife Council, Art In Hospitals and The Royal Bank of Scotland. Tim Cockburn also has numerous works in private collections throughout the world.

Tim is one of Scotland’s most distinctive artists. His subjects are scenes that are easily recognised from everyday life and events, capturing in exquisitely observed small details in his own inimitable style both the characters and situations.
