Description

Ben Davies-Jenkins Artist

Ben says:

“The subject of my work is the human figure, often, although not always, isolated. I tend to avoid painting images with a direct narrative content. I am interested, rather, in the borderlines that humans occupy between the physical and the cerebral and the spiritual. My work increasingly seeks a direct empathetic response from the viewer and is concerned with the beautiful, tragic vulnerability of the human condition. While my paintings are exclusively in oils, my drawings are predominantly executed in charcoal or graphite, often combined with ink or acrylic on board canvas, paper or glass.” I have worked on a large number of private portrait commissions including Rt Rev Bishop of Peterborough (2005) and the composer and broadcaster, John Bell (2008).
