Jane Gardiner Artist
Jane Gardiner grew up by the beach in Ayrshire, coming to Glasgow in 1992 to study Medicine. Presently she is a GP three days a week in the east end, spending the rest of her time in the studio.
“Mainly I paint people using oil paints, although more recently I have been making works based on museum interiors. Presently I am combining the two – and adding animals. People fascinate me, which is one of the main reasons I studied medicine. I feel at home in museums, and find their presentation of objects and animals interesting, both visually and intellectually. Also, being part of the conversation – representations of animals, and people, are the oldest paintings in existence, and I think this is a wonderful tradition to be part of – maybe I’m just a romantic.”
